About

I am first and foremost a mother and grandmother. I have two daughters and five grandchildren. I am also an active sports person and represented SWA in hockey and I represented Namibia in lawn bowls for 20 years. My greatest sporting achievement was winning a silver medal in bowls, at the Commonwealth games in Malaysia, in 1998.

I attended St George’s Diocesan School in Windhoek for my primary school years and then went to Centaurus High School for my high school years.

I studied at the Grahamstown Teacher’s Training College and once qualified,

I started my teaching career at Duneside Primary School.

I then moved to Windhoek where I started teaching at the Holy Cross Convent, then relocated to Keetmanshoop with my husband and taught at PK de Villiers High School. In 1980 I started teaching at St George’s Diocesan School and remained there for 30 years, first as a teacher and later as the Principal.

I’m passionate about teaching, particularly Grade 1’s, and have been in this career for close on 48 years. When I left Windhoek, I realised that my career was not over and in 2012 I became the first teacher, and Principal, of SSE. (Which became Riverside Private School 5 years ago.)
